Brunel Bridge, Bristol, UK competition entry

Bristol, UK

The bridge was designed as an entry for an international competition commemorating the 200th birthday of the British engineer Isambard K. Brunel. Nature, specifically the praying mantis, was our reference for the design of an extremely light-weight object. The bridge inherited this natural form and adapted it in line with technological innovations. It is composed of two interconnecting triangles that structurally reflect of the geometry of Nature.
